January 2014

Professors Lori Pollock, James Atlas, Terrance Harvey and Chrystalla Mouza leads a course where Computer science students at UD, mentor middle schoolers to create computer games.

October 2013

Professor Lori Pollock serves as principal investigator on the grant for CS 10K,a program to create and implement a new education program in the state of Delaware that will support high school and middle school educators teaching computer science (CS).

December 2012

Professors Lori Pollock and Terry Harvey, develops a course, where UD students design custom computer games to help middle school children understand fractions, grid coordinates, order of operations and other important mathematical skills.

March 2012

Professor Lori Pollock collaborates in “Helping Haiti”- an effort to foster learning among women and children in remote areas of Haiti coordinated between UD’s Department of Computer and Information Sciences and the University of North Carolina Charlotte, along with two nonprofit organizations: Waveplace Foundation and Mothering Across Continents (MAC).

January 2009 UDaily UD Computer Science Students Create Teaching Aids

Professor Lori Pollock and Terry Harvey led a fast-track Winter Session course in 2009 designed to explore how students would respond to new teaching methods and materials, to explore the challenges of incorporating robots into introductory computer sciences courses, and to initiate UD involvement in the One Laptop per Child program.

Professors Lori Pollock and Vijay Shanker are featured in an article on UDaily talking about the NSF grant that they received in 2008. This grant is for their seminal work in introducing Natural Language Processing techniques to the field of program analysis, thereby helping in a variety of program comprehension and maintenance tasks.
